Anonymous is of a person not identified by name; of unknown name or so the dictionary states. Their members wear a Guy Fawkes mask from the late 20th century, exemplified by the mask worn by V in the comic book series V for Vendetta, who fights against a fictional fascist English state. Fawkes is now "a major icon in modern political culture", whose face has become "a potentially powerful instrument for the articulation of postmodern anarchism" according to a historian: Lewis Call. Guy Fawkes is sometimes toasted as "the last man to enter Parliament with honest intentions" according to Wikipedia's article: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guy_Fawkes at the bottom of the Legacy section. According to http://www.yourdictionary.com/ku-klux-klan#mztxP8G7TsVcqtj9.99 the Ku Klux Klan is a secret society of white men founded in the S States after the Civil War to reestablish and maintain white supremacy. Also, according to this article: the Ku Klux Klan is
a secret society organized in Atlanta,
Georgia, in 1915 as “the Invisible Empire, Knights of the Ku Klux Klan”:
it is anti-black, anti-Semitic, anti-Catholic, etc., and uses terrorist
methods. I heard that the number of their members are diminishing nowadays.
Back to the main story, this story is relevant because Anonymous is "widely known for targeting groups for beliefs the hackers disagree with." according to http://news.discovery.com/tech/gear-and-gadgets/anonymous-vows-to-unhood-ku-klux-klan-151029.htm which is true because they took down the PlayStation Network before with a DDOS attack or a distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack which occurs when multiple systems flood the bandwidth or resources of a targeted system, usually one or more web servers. Such an attack is often the result of multiple compromised systems (for example a botnet) flooding the targeted system with traffic. No, wait, this was Lizard Squad, not Anonymous, but still the previous information about DDOS was according to Google on the first result on searching for just "DDOS Attack" and the text that first appears. Anonymous calls the release of the names of over 1,000 Ku Klux Klan members "Operation KKK" and it seems like from the picture online at http://www.foxnews.com/tech/2015/10/29/anonymous-intends-to-unveil-names-up-to-1000-ku-klux-klan-members.html that they even have an ""Operation KKK"" Twitter account. There are over 5,000 members of the Ku Klux Klan or KKK nationwide across the United States.
In summary, I have learned much about this 2nd media review assignment; I learned more about how people can do good for the people and the public by fighting against some activist hate groups online. I learned of how to do research better and dig deeper to find out more information, such as to find or that I found out that the Lizard Squad was responsible for the DDOS attack on the Gaming servers earlier in 2015 and in possible late 2014. I learned how to better utilize the Google search engine and to do better searches to dig on information on an online server. Finally, I learned to find out better news articles online on a subject, although I can/could/should work on finding out information to find previous articles that I found online.
